Chinese New Year
08/02/2024
Over the last few weeks, we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have several Chinese families as part of our Beachcomber whanau and have enjoyed sharing in the festivities of this special occasion.
We have decorated our learning environment with red and yellow lanterns and were so lucky to have Chinese families help us learn to make dumplings and write Chinese characters for us. The dumpling mixture was full of delicious vegetables, corn, carrots, bok choi and onion. It was a bit of a fiddly process, so we watched how to make the edge of the dumpling wrapper wet with water and then carefully scoop the filling onto the wrapper. Next, we needed to fold the wrapper over and carefully press the edges together to seal it. The dumplings were a delicious treat at morning tea, yum!
